Next on the Docket: ChatGPT’s Safari Gone Wild!

OpenAI has given their pet project, ChatGPT, a shiny new toy: web browsing. It’s like watching a kid in a candy store...if the candy store was the vast expanse of the internet and the kid was an advanced AI language model.

Well, hold your horses, folks, because this pony is currently more of a bronco. Awesome SEO consultant, speaker, and author, Aleyda Solis (@aleyda on Twitter), had a thing or two to say about it.

Boy, do we feel ya, Aleyda! It’s like expecting a slick sports car and getting a moody llama instead. Sure, it's still cool, and I mean who doesn't want a llama? But let's face it, it ain't gonna win the Grand Prix. And to make matters worse, ChatGPT has had a slew of problems lately with "Network Errors" and the good ol' "Hmm... Something's gone wrong".

OpenAI hasn’t mentioned when they'll get the gremlins out of the system, but here’s hoping it's sooner rather than later. Despite the hiccups, the potential of an AI buddy helping us surf the web still sounds pretty cool.

Zapier + AI = The Ultimate Automation Tool

Wade Foster, co-founder and CEO of Zapier, is hell-bent on one thing: making computers and AI work harder for us. Zapier is rolling out AI-powered tools, making bespoke software accessible to everyone, not just the code nerds.

They're shaking hands with big AI players like OpenAI, Leap, and Vowel, and users are already cooking up some cool things. For instance, the new Zapier plugin for ChatGPT lets you automate tasks directly within the chat. For the tech-savvy, their Natural Language Actions (NLA) API offers integration with over 5,000 apps.

Carly Moulton from Zapier used the Chatbot component on Zapier to build a press release generator for her team that’s pretty impressive.

Something that really stood out to me from this announcement was the ability to create “Zaps” from just typing in plain English. Describe what you want Zapier to do and it’ll create the automation for you.

Note: One of the ways that I’m thinking about using this is to automatically sync Google Docs within a certain folder, to Notion. For instance in our production pipeline at Content at Scale, when we have a script or brief document, we have to go to multiple places in order to copy and paste information from the Google Doc, into Notion. Instead, we could use Zapier to copy the brief/script from the Google doc that shares a similar name and compile it into Notion automatically. (In theory anyway) 😛
