Alright, tech aficionados, guess who's making headlines again? Our beloved chatbot, ChatGPT, was developed by the mavens at OpenAI! Let's delve into their recent announcement and what it means for us.

So, OpenAI is unveiling a new subscription plan for ChatGPT. It's called "ChatGPT Business," specifically designed for the professional crowd and companies needing more control over their data. If you're asking, "Hey, Jeff, does this mean my data won't be used to train their models?" The answer is yes; you got it!

In a nutshell, with ChatGPT Business, your data stays yours. But it's not just for the business savvy among us - they plan to make this option available for all users. So, whether you're a big corporation or an independent user, you'll have the peace of mind you need when chatting with your AI pal.

But of course, providing AI-based chit-chats to millions doesn't come cheap. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, confessed the operating costs are quite "eye-watering." Nevertheless, the company continues to innovate, extending ChatGPT's functionalities with third-party plugins.

Now, let's switch gears to privacy. OpenAI has got us covered there too. They are introducing a feature that allows users to switch off chat history. So, you'll have the option to keep your AI convos private. Sure, the data will be retained for 30 days to keep an eye on any naughty business, but apart from that, your secret midnight discussions with ChatGPT about the best pizza toppings will remain a secret.

However, it's worth mentioning that amidst all this innovation and growth, OpenAI has faced some regulatory hiccups, especially around data privacy. Some countries, including Italy, have expressed concerns, but with the new privacy controls, we hope they'll soon find their way back into every AI enthusiast's heart.

The Bard's Ballad: Google Hits a Speed Bump on AI Chatbot Launch in the EU

Did you hear about Google's newest brainchild AI chatbot called Bard getting delayed? You read it right; Google has postponed the launch of Bard in the European Union (EU) after privacy regulators raised concerns. This news comes straight from the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), Google's chief data protection authority in the region.

The DPC Deputy Commissioner, Graham Doyle, expressed that Google had not provided sufficient information about Bard's launch in the EU. Interestingly, the launch of Bard in the EU was scheduled around the same time as OpenAI's AI chatbot, ChatGPT. While ChatGPT is freely accessible globally, Bard's availability remains uncertain in the EU.

Despite the hold-up, some sneaky tech enthusiasts have found a workaround to access Bard via VPN, choosing a location where Bard is already available. However, it's worth noting that the DPC didn't specify the particular concerns it had with Google's Bard.

Google's delay occurs in a wider context of increased scrutiny from EU data protection authorities. These regulatory bodies have previously raised concerns regarding OpenAI's ChatGPT, addressing issues such as compliance with regional privacy laws, the handling of AI-generated disinformation (or as the developers call it, 'hallucinations'), child safety, and providing EU users with data access and rectification rights.

While this postponement of Bard's launch might seem like a setback, it's important to remember that Google intends to make Bard widely available responsibly. They're currently in conversation with privacy regulators to answer questions and receive feedback.
